Battle of the Baton

I was so thrilled to have been asked to be the sole designer for this exciting charity event. The Coordinator Fran Bourget, who’s inspired idea this was, based her thoughts on the 2008 BBC TV Series Maestro of which the infamous Comedienne Sue Perkins became the ultimate champion.

The idea, six local celebrities aim to prove they have what it takes to conduct an orchestra in front of a live audience.

In the lead up, each celebrity is assigned an established local conductor who then mentors and helps them to master the disciplines of conducting orchestral music. Not as easy as it looks!

On the evening of the event, a black tie and sit down dinner, each celebrity conducts two short pieces of music, judged by a panel of three VIP judges – all of whom have professional conducting qualifications. The winner is then deemed the champion and presented with a bespoke Battle of the Baton trophy.
